Questions & answers
Your questions, answered
Everything you might be wondering before your first class, and a warm welcome whenever you’re ready.
I have the answer
If you are not sure, there are the answers
Starting something new can feel a bit daunting, so here are the questions I get asked most. Can’t find what you’re after? Just drop me a line, honestly, there’s no such thing as a silly question.
New to Pilates
I've never done Pilates before, is that ok?
Absolutely, most people who come to me are starting fresh or returning after years away. Every exercise is layered across three levels, so you're always in control of how far you take it. Most people simply book the £25 trial and come along; if you'd feel happier having a quick chat on the phone first, just give me a ring.
Am I too old to start?
It's genuinely never too late. Our classes are designed for the over 50s, but members currently range from 35 to 85. Pilates meets you where you are, and you'll move with more ease and confidence the longer you keep at it.
I have an injury or a health condition, can I still join?
In most cases, yes, Pilates can be wonderfully supportive for stiff, achy or recovering bodies. We'll talk through anything specific at your free assessment and adapt exercises to keep you safe and included. 1:1 reformer work is especially good for rehab. If you're under medical care, do check with your GP first and let us know so we can tailor things for you.
Do I need an assessment before I start?
First things first, most people don't need one! A quick chat on the phone is usually all it takes. The assessment is really there for anyone with an injury, a health condition, or a few nerves they'd like to talk through beforehand. If that's you, it's a relaxed 25-minute chat, no leotards, no pressure, no obligation, and we'll find the right class and level together.
Classes & how they work
What kinds of classes do you offer?
Three ways to practise: friendly group mat classes across our three halls, one-to-one reformer sessions in Tracy's home studio in Pevensey Bay, and live online classes over Zoom. You're welcome to mix and match as life allows.
What are the class levels?
There's a mix of beginner, mixed and improver classes, and within each one, every exercise is offered at three levels. So no two weeks feel quite the same, and you're always free to take a move further or keep it gentle. Tracy will happily modify anything that isn't right for you on the day.
What should I wear and bring?
Dress for comfort, not to impress, nobody dresses up here. We'd suggest layers, as you'll warm up more than you'd expect once we get going. For group and online classes a mat is handy (plus a ball, band and light weights for Zoom); for 1:1 reformer sessions everything's provided.
Will I be able to keep up?
You'll never be asked to keep up. Everyone works at their own pace, in their own range of movement, and we encourage you to rest whenever you need to. The movements may be small, but they're powerful, and there's no comparing yourself to anyone else here.
Booking & the £25 trial
What's the £25 offer?
It's a gentle way to begin: your first four classes for £25 in total. It gives you time to settle in, meet everyone and feel the difference before committing to anything further. Most new members just book the £25 trial straight off, no assessment needed unless you'd like one.
How do I book a class?
Nice and simple. Most people just book the £25 trial through the trial link and come along. After that, you book classes week to week through the class app, I'll send you the link and login once you're set up, so you can pick the times that suit you. Prefer a quick chat before you start? Just give me a ring.
Do I have to commit to a block or membership?
No long contracts. After your trial you simply book the classes you'd like, week to week, through the app, so you stay in control and only book around what works for your life.
Are 1:1 reformer sessions available?
Yes, one-to-one reformer and mat sessions run from Tracy's home studio in Pevensey Bay, at £55 for 50 minutes. They're tailored entirely to you, and lovely if you're recovering from an injury or would like to learn the basics privately first.
Members & online classes
Can I take classes from home?
Yes. We run live online classes over Zoom in exactly the same supportive style, perfect if travel is tricky, the weather's turned, or you simply prefer your own space. New to Zoom? Don't worry, we'll help you get set up before your first class.
Do you offer recordings I can follow in my own time?
Yes, members receive a weekly email with a password that unlocks that week's class recordings, so you can practise whenever suits you. It's a lovely way to keep moving between live classes or catch up on anything you missed.
How do I become a member and get on the app?
Once you've started, usually with the £25 trial, we'll add you to the members list and send everything you need to get onto the class app, along with your weekly email. From there, booking classes and finding the recordings is simple, and we're always on hand if you get stuck.
Where are your classes held?
Across three friendly halls in Eastbourne and Pevensey Bay: Sovereign Harbour Community Centre, St Wilfrid's Church Hall in Pevensey Bay, and St Agnes Church Hall in Eastbourne. You'll find the full weekly schedule on our Timetable page.
Still have a question?
I’d love to help. Drop me a line or book the £25 trial whenever you’re ready, I usually reply within 24 hours.
